How to make an energizing green tea salt scrub with a citrus scent?
The summer has officially ended. Nature loses its green colour and everything dies. The leaves start falling down. You can already feel the slight puff of cold wind outside.
I love the autumn but I know that many of you still dream about the summer. You miss this endless greenery that you are used to. What other better way to prolong the summer feeling, but to bring it to your daily beauty routine with a green tea salt scrub with a citrus scent.
Today’s recipe is for all of you that miss the summer so much. It will revive the hot summer nights filled with the aroma of sea and citrus cocktails.
We are all familiar with the benefits of drinking green tea. It improves the total health of your body and even helps you to lose weight. It is also a perfect substitute for coffee. The green tea, when used in homemade cosmetics, has awesome benefits on the skin, too.
Green tea salt scrub recipe
Preparation time: 15 minutes
- Clear glass jar, 250 ml (8.5 oz)
- 270 grams (9.5 oz) sea salt
- 13 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 2 bags of green tea
- 1 rounded tsp green tea powder
- 10 drops lemongrass essential oil
- 10 drops lime essential oil
The sea salt is full of minerals. It not only exfoliates the skin, but it is also a natural detoxifier. The sea salt has antiseptic effects and increases blood circulation.
The olive oil contains a huge amount of vitamin E, a powerful antioxidant which protects the skin from ageing. It softens your skin and makes it very smooth.
The green tea is full of antioxidants and antibacterial agents. It helps to delay the signs of ageing and improves the elasticity of the skin.
The lemongrass and the lime essential oils have an antidepressant and antibacterial effect. The lemongrass essential oil smells like lemons but in a sweeter and milder way. Lime oil has a sharp citrus scent. Combining the two oils gives a fresh and energizing aroma to the body scrub.

Tips and common mistakes
You can use whatever carrier oil you have on hand instead of olive oil.
Be careful how much green tea powder you are adding unless you want to start looking like Shrek while applying the body scrub. I made that mistake the first time. Luckily I easily washed it using a soap.
